Major: Business - Management and Administration (This Major's Salary over time)
I studied management at the Trulaske College of Business, and graduated with my BSBA in May 2011. Coming from a different background, with interest in starting my career, I was discouraged with the business school's students, programs, and career services. While the school makes great use of its limited funding, and has great alumni, it has some serious downsides that all prospective students should be aware of. DO NOT, i repeat DO NOT study business at Mizzou unless you are either in accounting or the Cornell Leadership Program. The accounting program is wonderful, but very selective. Students from this program land great jobs for the big four, and generally become rather successful. However, you must start early, because it is difficult to transfer into the program after your sophomore year. The Cornell Leadership program takes the "elite" students from the program and gives them all the resources and guidance that simply do not exist for the other students. Many times the elite students are not the smartest, but come from wealthy families. The undergraduate Dean, Mary Beth Marrs, overseas this program and creates a system of Cronyism, and disparity. This individual possess a huge amount of influence, and uses it at her discretion to help her favorites out, while the masses are pushed under the rug. The university might advertise as an elite business school, but this is not the same as reality. So if you study accounting, or happen to get into the Cornell Leadership Program, then Mizzou will take you far! However, if you are not so fortunate then DO NOT, DO NOT go to Mizzou. You will be left at the disposal of the school's sub-par career services to place you into an inadequate, under-paid job processing loans.
