I've only been here a year, but I love UNCG. I meet several friends right away at orientation & I continued to be friends with them throughout the rest of the year. I only met a few other new friends due to me having a lot of the big freshman classes, but I loved the few small classes I had. As for the 'social life', I live off-campus but honestly UNCG isn't a party school and that's one reason why I go here; since I don't want to be hanging out with the future alcoholics of America. Every one I've met here has been incredibly nice and I talk to random people often, even though I'm a shy person. The faculty is usually extremely nice, open to new ideas from students, and available for help. The campus is kind of ugly during winter when all the trees are dead but during spring, summer, and early fall it's absolutely gorgeous. As for the safety portion, it does make me glad I don't live on campus because I hate that I get so many email alerts about crime in the area. Back when I was a theatre major & getting out of rehearsals at 1 in the morning, I was definitely scared walking to my car. During the day, however, I feel completely at home at UNCG.
