I actually left Drew after my freshman year, but I still reccomend it to other people. The person who will be happiest at this school should either be into sports or drama as both are insta-social structures that are very supportive and engaging. There are a lot more opportunities for social events if you're involved in theatre or athletics. No one seems to have issues with other people's religion or sexuality. Drew will also serve you well if you want a good education, but not be overburdened by work. If you like individual attention and professors who will check up on you if you haven't shown for class, this is the place for you. Every prof I had was awesome, but in my opinion didn't make up for what the university lacks overall.

While many people rag on Madison, it does have one huge caveat: the train station. For $10 (round-trip) and 45 minutes of your time, you get whisked away to New York City. Plus, the train is a great place to study. The food needs some work, it's like soup kitchen quality with the exception of the nightly chef cooked options (2 choices) which you have to stand in line awhile for. But the campus is relaxed and beautiful. You wouldn't know you were in Jersey if it weren't for all the Jersey kids.

Drew has been doing a great job at furthering the quality of life and opportunities on campus. The president (former governor) Tom Keane is very involved. The school is on track to begin cutting back its acceptance rates, and is in the process of building some fantastic new facilities.

One complaint I had about Drew was that it was my first choice, but I soon discovered it was many people's back-up school, which lends a bit of a bitter and apathetic attitude to the environment. That was a huge factor in what lead me to transfer. People may ask you where Drew is now, but in 15 years I'm sure more people will know it on a map.

And for people planning on spending a year somewhere to bolster their transcript before transferring to an elite school- this is a good place to do it. I originally applied early action to Drew, so I never intended to transfer, but it was a good enough background to get me into my first choice for the second round, Cornell University.
