This response is 100% correct. I attend Drew more than a decade ago, and I loved it. I got a good education, and the small college atmosphere was good for me. However, the school has become way too expensive. When I started at Drew, it was $27,000 per year (total cost), and there were lots of scholarships. Now it's $55,000 per year, and there are less scholarships and financial aid. While the education is good, it's not worth it to put yourself deeply in debt. After I got my first real job, I met plenty of people who went to state colleges, which cost a lot less, and likewise got a good education. To make matters worse, being a graduate of Drew University didn't register with most employers I met. They had heard of it, but knew nothing good or bad about it. |
Drew cost me $12,000 for four years, 1966-1970. 30% admission rate. Balanced demographics. We actually had more male graduates 45 years ago than today. 20X more expensive with poorer job prospects for grads than we had. |

Drew is not the worst school, but it certainly is not the best either. I agree with the previous posts on Drew, regarding its value. The cost of a Drew education will never come back to its owner. The price of the school is ridiculously high and the quality of the education and the alumni networks are not good enough to justify spending that kind of money. Drew is a regional college. It is not a school that has name recognition outside of New Jersey. That limits you when it comes to impressing employers. The education is decent; however, you can do just as well at Kean University or another NJ state school for a third of the price. If Drew is where you really want to go, then do it. Just realize that the cost of this education is not worth what you are getting in return.
