Drew? Well, I can't say much that is positive about this school. Its adequate at best. My suggestions to anyone applying here is to look carefully at what you are getting. Drew is very expensive, and you don't get much in return. I spent four years here and I was not pleased with the quality of the education, nor was I impressed with the quality or type of students which enrolled here. I would stay away from second and third tier liberal arts schools. Liberal arts schools are fantastic only if you go to a place like Bates, Colby, Middlebury or Williams. Drew is not worth it, and it does not come close to the quality, prestige or experience you would get at a top tier college. However, if you do well at a Drew, you are very likely to get into a good graduate program, and this way you can kick down and kiss up. However, this also means more debt in a bad economy. My suggestion, go to a state university and do well there. Save your money and figure out what you want to do with your life. Schools such as Drew promise you a wealth of experiential learning. This is all b.s. You can get the same experiences, and even better ones, at a state university. If you are lucky to get into a top tier liberal arts college, I would suggest going there as well. At least it is worth the money. Drew is a regional school and it does not have much weight beyond Northern New Jersey. It has a high price tag which is not worth it. Also, the students are not very serious. I found myself frustrated with the pettiness, silliness and weirdness of Drew's culture. It is a very immature school. Students go to Drew because they come out of sheltered environments and they don't want to grow up and develop themselves into real adults. The school capitalizes on this images and sells this brand to parents who are concerned with the "safety" of their spoiled children. As a result, the students here engage in stupid behavior and get away with it. Slaps on the wrist are very common, even for the most egregious behaviors. Also, don't expect any career development. This school does a very poor job at preparing students for entry into the workforce. You will find yourself feeling as if you are in the wilderness the day after graduation. Trust me, it is not a good feeling. Drew knows about this, but they do nothing to change this culture of apathy which pervades the administration and academic departments. Seriously, take it from me, having been at Drew and trying my best, I can say that this school is not worth it. If it were half the price, then maybe I would suggest that you attend, but its very costly and not very good. If you are in NJ, I would strive for a school like Ramapo State, Stockton or TCNJ. These are good school and much more affordable. Additionally, they prepare students for the real world. That is there job as state universities. They graduate students for the economy. Drew is a shelter. I suggest visiting the campus and seeing for yourself exactly what Drew is all about. I am positive that you will agree with this posting. Otherwise, take your chances and pay the price. It is not worth much, but its your money time and commitment. Make it worthwhile.
