Seton Hall University is a good school.  Not great, but nowhere near the bottom of the college heap.  Academically, SHU really has just about all you could ask for in a growing regional school; It was recently voted one of the Top 100 National Universities by US News and World Report.  I would say the work-load is highly average, no more or no less than most other schools in its class.  The faculty at SHU is a bright spot, so far, they have been surprisingly accessible and caring, showing an interest not only in their respective subjects, but the students they teach.

Socially, Seton Hall could be considered lacking.  A very high percentage of students either commute or pack it up and go home on the weekends.  I don't live on campus, so I can't go into too much detail about what is like for those who live in the dorms, but from what I've heard, if you don't take advantage of New York City being 20 minutes away by train, or you don't have a car to explore the rather nice surrounding suburban areas, you'll def.  be wishing more was going on.  Diverse school.  Division I, Big East Sports help.

The administration could be better, studentsoften get tied up in red tape.

I would say Seton Hall is an EXCELLENT option for any student from New Jersey/the Tri-State area that wants to enjoy the college experience without leaving their pasts and all New York has to offer completely behind while getting a quality education.  Don't come to SHU if you really don't want to stay in the Tri-State area though, opt for a similar school farther away, you'll be much happier.

questionI'm an out-of-state student looking to go to SHU. I visited last summer and really loved the campus and people I met. After reading some comments about how the student body is comprised of people who are unfriendly, snooty, arrogant (maybe they mistook confidence for arrogance?), and close-minded (having your own opinion and sticking with it isn't that bad) I have to wonder if any of these comments are true?
