I swear if I almost get run over by another one of those student workers/Graduate students zooming around campus in those golf carts, I'm going to scream! It feels like your always crossing the street by how much you have to worry about being run over while walking on campus.

Advice: The student enrollment center has issues! They are still on a mostly paper system that utilizes student workers to make sure your transcript/enrollment information is in the system. They make human errors! Make sure to follow up with them, or go often in person, as I've had them not receive a transcript from another school that I had confirmation was sent, get this, 4 TIMES! The phone line to call them is often busy, so go in person and wait in line!

Another piece of info, often classes you have the pre-req for will give you problems when you try to register online. Dont assume that you dont qualify for some reason! The system has a bunch of gliches, especially with enrolling in math classes, so call the appropriate course department and have them enroll you directly!

Currently they are in the process of building a new Student Enrollment services building that should be able to accomidate the HUGE lines for the financial aid department. Dont leave this to the last few days, because you will literally have to wait HOURS in order to be seen!

Another tidbit - Buy a parking permit early! They sell out and then you're SOL. There is practically no parking without a permit at UNLV. There is a tiny non-permit lot, but it fills up by 8:45am. Even with a parking permit you are not guarenteed a spot, so arrive at least 30 to 45 minutes early to find a spot if your class time later than the 8:30 am slot.

I'll just say, they are too many graduate students teaching classes. If they agree to teach classes at UNLV, their tutition is waived, so most of them do, but very few should. God help you if you get a power-hungry GA who grades your freshman level english comp class like it's the only class you're taking and have all the time in the world to write an essay. So lame.

Most of the professors are willing to sit down and talk with you during their office hours.

UNLV is ok, but it's mostly in-state kids that never want to leave Vegas and explore the world, which is just weird to me. Watch any stereotypical depiction of how sororities and fraternities are like on tv, and you'll find that since most of them have no real world experience, they emulate what they see on tv. Basically, if you're not in one, you cannot participate in tail-gating and intermural sports. I'm not a anti-greek, but I'll tell you this, this is the perfect example of why some people hate greek letter organizations with a passion, because of how ridiculously cliche they've made it at this school.

Responses
responseAww, and I thought that UNLV greke life would be amazing. I really wanted to join one too. Hm, guess I'll have to see so for myself when I go there.

The only reason why I'm attending UNLV is because my parents will never let me go out-of-state and pay over $10,000 for tuition, and also paying the extras (dorm, gas, etc.). I'd rather much to go UCLA though, ohhh if only, if only.
