Having failed miserably to fit into the Colgate "mold" during my time there, I can only devise theoretical constructs as to why someone so "whitebread" as myself (white male, sexually appealing, outgoing, devilishly charming, chipper personality) could so easily adjust to the world outside of my ego and Hamilton, NY.

Perhaps it is because I genuinely enjoy interesting people of different backgrounds (indeed, not just lip service!) and have actively pursued their friendship. Extending beyond my high school social circle may seem outlandish to those buzzards that cannot understand the complexity of my personality and emotions. There was a lot of drama in my high school and that contributed greatly to who I am today. I was "keepin' it real" at White Plains HS; see, not everyone comes from private school.

Am I a bitter pariah for being pecked at by some crows of the same feather? Hardly. A leper I was at the 'Gate, yet some of the clubbiest corporate cultures have embraced me. Go figure. It turns out that many wealthy and influential people I have dealt with are accomodating, interesting and nothing like that Phoenix- like Colgate student body. Also, I have visited some other meccas of higher learning.

The average Colgate student has a quality that I have yet to see matched by alumni of other schools

… thankfully.

Remember not to prejudge homogeneous people. I just learned in a book not to prejudge other types of people myself. My aunt from La Jolla will also be writing a review of Colgate. She is going to give a swimmingly emotional appeal to the benefits of her daughter attending Colgate that is devoid of logic. Bless her heart. She only went to state school and is uppity.
