Students at Colgate are fortunate to have what many smaller liberal arts colleges lack, but they do not get lost in the shuffle like students at larger research universities. Colgate is a solid mix of challenging classes with outstanding professors, a majestic campus that is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, state-of-the-art facilities, countless social opportunities, and excellent sports programs, where this year alone Colgate won prestigious hockey and football championships against schools ten times larger its size. These things - and many others - bring students together and provide them with a great sense of school spirit that is unparalleled at any other small school. It is also true that Colgate's rural location, less-than-favorable wintry conditions, and (thankfully declining) focus on the Green system make one second guess their choice to come here…but if you're looking for a prestigious college with a picture-perfect campus, the ability to make a difference to the community and the opportunity to take advantage of amazing internships, then Colgate is for you.
