Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
When I interviewed for my current teaching position (from 840 applicants), I was informed that the gentleman retiring was a Colgate graduate. the Superintendent told me. I was hired that same day. Colgate has great academics and that's why I chose to go there, not for its remoteness or die-hard winters (that aren't really that bad…wear a friggin' hat or take the shuttle up the hill), not for its students who choose to drink - or even those who don't. I had 2 internships (my second internship was at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD) and even earned my master's at Colgate in teaching (my bachelor's degree is in biology and Colgate has a small, reputable graduate program in teaching).Colgate is unique in that it is a small liberal arts college with a large university atmosphere. Its participation in Division I sports makes it stand out from its peer institutions in almost every way. I am sorry to hear that students are/were not happy with their experience(s) at Colgate. My time at Colgate has had a profound impact on me, my career, and my future ties as an alumnus. My students know it, too.
