I am the opposite of the typical colgate student. I am not white, I am not rich, and I do not drive a Jeep Cherokee. I cannot stand people who continue to knock Colgate because the student body is made of "cookie cutters" who come from the same mold. If you give Colgate a chance, I think I would be hard pressed to find a person who did not thoroughly enjoy Colgate. Sure, there are people who are downright miserable, but I believe that I left knowing a bulk of the students in my class, and they were all incredibly happy. Most students love Colgate, and those who do not, love to trample its name every opportunity they get. It is a community more than university and one that I have come to love. Don't hate if you haven't given it a chance.
