If you are self-motivated and proactive about your education, Cornell is a fantastic place to be. There is always a lecture or program of some sort to attend, and it is easy to have very enriching experiences with faculty and students, if you are willing to seek them out. Don't expect professors to hold your hand through your work here; this is a research institution and the main focus of most professors is their work, but they are very willing to help you and spend hours talking with you if you express interest and aren't a gum-chewing, hair-twirling sorority girl. The best way to take advantage of Cornell is to get involved with research, no matter what your field is. Search your department's faculty listing until you find someone doing something that you think is interesting. Seek them out and find out how you can get involved. That's the best way to make the most of your education here.
