Are you still in the nursing program? I am considering the nursing program at GCU, but after all of the comments, I think I should reconsider. It seems that one doesn't need to apply to the BSN program, rather they are accepted once they are admitted to GCU…this is the appeal. Do you have any comments about this? |

Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
I honestly have had nothing but bad experiences with this University. I had an unepected near death in the family of which I needed to drop a class that hadn't even begun yet. I was advised to to drop the class by sending an email to registration. I did as I was advised and thought it was taken care of. Three months later I received a call stating that I owed money for this class that I dropped. The individual was apparently new and adviced me incorrectly. After speaking with several people from GCU, Iwas advised to file an appeal. I filed the appeal on Dec 24, 2008 and didn't get a response until June 8, 2009. My appeal was granted-GCU applied the money that I had paid for the class I dropped toward another class which was great. However, while they were making a decision reg. my appeal, they turned me over to a collection agency. I ended up having to pay $258 for collection agency fee's because they gave me the wrong advice. There is no communication at this University. I would call week after week, leave messages, send emails. No one returns phone calls or emails. No one knows what's going on down there and everyone gets different advise depending on who you talk to. It is the most frustrating thing in the world and almost every person I work with who has went to this University has had similar problems. The teachers at GCU were good but the business side of GCU made me regret the day I ever decided to go back to school in the first place, which really is quite sad. There's no need to put all your contact info on your profile because they won't use it. Instead, they communicate thru your University email adress rather your enrolled in classes or not. Doesn't it make sense that if your not enrolled in classes your not going to be checking your campus email? University of Phoenix has great communication. Your counselor calls once a week just to make sure everythings okay and adress any concerns you might have. Just very disappointed!
