I went to HWS many years ago. I go back for 5 year reunions. Who knows if things are still as I remember them. The education that I received at HWS was exceptional. I can't say that it prepared me for the working world, but that wasn't the point. The education there opened the door to my intellectual life. It allowed me to live a much fuller and contemplative life. I went to law school afterwards and felt prepared for the kind of challenge presented by it. I made great friends at the Colleges, and, in some senses, they remain my best friends. Withoutout question, even then, there was a strong prep school orientation, but, as a public school kid, I ultimately found a way of coping and then learning to socialize within that paradigm (when it suited me). Some people might be turned off by a small school in a rural area. I found it was just the thing that I needed for that period of my life. I've been in cities ever since and long for the beauty and uncomplicated spirit of the Finger Lakes region.
