Okay…So much to say about Hofstra. This is my second year at Hofstra, and up until recently I have been trying to convince myself that I was happy here. I am not. Maybe if daddy had given me a beamer and my mom lent me her credit card to shop at Armani, I would enjoy this atmosphere more. I dont really know. Everyone on campus is nice. They all smile and say hi, but come friday night, your all by yourself. Okay, it really isnt that way, but it less you want to go out drinking every night, it is hard to find any way to socialize with the other students. There is approximately 5 bars within walking distance and two liqour stores that do not card. As with most colleges, drinking encompasses most of the experience. I personally pulled of a 3.8 cumalitve and only suffered from approximately 50 times.

Besides the social aspect, which as I stated, sucks horribly, the education is descent. The library had reviews of all the professors and you can ask other students for recommendations on classes. There are those that do not speak English (Mostly in the math department. Yea Dr Wu) The honors college gives you the opportunity to take some actually challenging corses. That is the only reason why I went to Hofstra. Dean Russel is awesome. The classes in the general college are filled with ridicuosly ignorant people. Stay away from any sociology classes unless you enjoying listening to the jewish girls complain about how depressed they are.

The campus itself is beautiful. It is one of the nicest I have seen, despite being stuck in the middle of the ghetto. A friend was walking right outside the campus when beaten in the face with a pipe and mugged.

I would strongly suggest really taking a look at many schools and trying to find one where the general population resembles your high school friends. In the end, it is not the college, but the students that mean the most. I am not an armani wearing alcohol with a brand new beamer. I dont like hofstra.
