Major: Communications (This Major's Salary over time)
Most of my frustrations stem from administrative policies and the residential life department. Some of the policies don't really make sense to students and seem ackward and unfair. Residential life is a hassle at this university. The important things about a college are right on at Hofstra, though. The faculty and classes here are amazing; small, personal and taught by, for the majority, people who are not only well-educated in their field, but who like students and like to teach. My experience with extra-curricular activities has also been really great. The school of communications is amazing. Saftey here has significantly improved in the last 3 years. The campus is absoultely beautiful, but I just wish the area surrounding Hofstra were nicer and there was more university supported events in the area, like the Nassau Coliseum. The only other minor complaint is the lack of social cohesian and school spirit. THere isn't really anything to do as far as parties and activities unless your extrememly involved on campus, or you're part of a fraternity or sorority. ALso, there isn't a lot of school spirit for sporting events, but thats starting to increase little by little. The Long Island atmosphere, especially the people, is hard to adjust to if you're from out of state, it's very different from New England, where a lot of the Hofstra students are from. Overall, I'd had a pretty good experience at Hofstra, and I've made some really great connections, friendships and memories. If I were doing the process all over again, I can't say with certainity that I would have chosen Hofstra, but it would definitely still be an option.
