I went to marist for 2 years but i had to transfer out. Their comm department was vastly overrated. I switched my major because it wasnt working for me and their journalism department wasnt much better. I tried for 2 years to get an internship but career services was unhelpful. The campus was pretty because it was on the water but that got old after the first week of school. The dorms were small and the surrounding area sucked. There are no parties on campus excpet lame apartment parties and there are about 3 bars that people go to but it gets expensive and gets old. You see the same people in the bars that already have their cliques established so no one really talks to anyone besides their group of friends. I thought i wanted a small school but this wasn't great because everyone had their cliques. The bars are also lame because if your ID gets rejected, they take it and there goes any fun you can have. Being at marist gets you stuck with the same kinds of people. They are all pretty stupid and can't seem to hold any kind of conversation. it is actually very ad. If you want to go to college to challenge yourself academically and actually learn and better yourself…dont go to marist. It is a pretty school and the idea of being freshman causes people to like it but academcially the school does not care much about their students, they want your money. The party scene also does start to get old so by junior year a lot of my friends just go home because they are all from long island or new jersey. If you can get into a better school, go there because half the places i tried to intern with asked where marist was and most of my internships were in rockland county and new york city which were only an hour away so it killed almost any chance for the job that kids from NYU, Seton Hall, Hofstra, and other known schools in the area got.
