The school is great, great resources, etc. But there is no humanity whatsoever. It's the number that matters to them, and I won't disagree that that is their strength. Seriously though, they will screw you over with financial aid.

DON'T EXPECT THE ESTIMATED FINANCIAL AID PACKET to be anywhere close the actual financial aid packet you'll be receiving. Apart from the expected 4% increase in all tuition over the states, my early-decision financial aid packet was off by 9%. At the end of this year, I was billed an additional $5,000 because after 4 processes of verification, they determined that I am no longer eligible for a certain grant.

Forget about calling or talking to the financial aid department, because they are trained to deal with people such as me and others: after multiple battles and transfers, I got to speak with NYU's president John Sexton. Well guess what, he offered me a refund of my deposit. Well too bad that this was an early-decision binding agreement, and I already withdrew all my applications to other colleges.

I upheld my agreement to withdraw all my applications, and they knew that very well and used it to their advantage: either pay an unexpectedly huge bill, or not attend any college at all. Think twice, before making your commitment to NYU.

The professors are great (depending on the department and class), there's a lot of resources, etc. But for a price.

There's a reason that NYU is able to spread their campuses all over the world. A private institution as well? Where do you think they're getting their money from.

Think twice, unless you have money to roll around in.

questionMy daughter wants to go to NYU and she got 25K aid plus some grants worth 3k with some loan program. she wants to go. We live in arizona. any advice
responseIt really depends on whether you can afford to foot the bill (or take out PLUS loans) for the remaining $30K or so.
commentTo be honest, this school taught me one important thing: invest your money in a smart way. Thanks to them I decided to put some of my savings in Hashing24.com, which is a bitcoin cloud mining company that rents you their mining equipment for a fee. My returns from these guys have been stellar these past years, so I've been stacking quite a lot of Bitcoin in my wallet.
