Major: Education (This Major's Salary over time)
As much as I hate to say this, Northern Arizona University (NAU) is a complete and total let-down. I came to NAU to pursue a Master's of Education with an emphasis in higher education. I was berated by a teacher, my adviser did not realize she was my adviser, and a teacher canceled more than half of the classes scheduled. I expressed my discontent to the assistant department chair and he listened politely. Unfortunately, I do not believe he could do much to rectify my experiences. There were a few gems in the experience; two of my teachers and one administrator gave me enough encouragement to remain in the program until I completed the degree. Clearly, those three gems (albeit, difficult-to-find) were not enough to stop me from warning future students. The program offers majority of classes online or in Phoenix, AZ. This is frustrating because I moved to Flagstaff, AZ to ensure better access to courses. Flagstaff is an amazing community but the cost of living is high—adding to the high cost of graduate school. To make a long and pathetic tale short: DO NOT ENROLL IN NAU'S EDUCATION LEADERSHIP PROGRAM if you are seeking a challenge.
