I might be new to the school, it's only my second semester, but looking through comments I completely disagree with them. I do admit during student orientation I was a little disturbed by the amount of snobs that I was surrounded by. A lot of commentary on the "0.0001" percentage points between the top kids at their schools. Their perfect SAT scores. All that. I was most definitely not in the top 5% of my school. But now, one of my good friends is one of those kids I really hated. The kids here just have to settle in before they realize yeah, you are just as smart as they are and you're here for a reason. Everyone's here because they really love what major they picked.

Most people who hate it here, can't stand the passion at which people talk about their classes and respective majors. It weaves it's way into daily conversations and stereotypes about majors and their students (archies, comp sci, physics) are rampant.

I found a nice social life, I love my friends. To get a social life you have to gasp look for it. You can't expect it to jump out at you like it does during orientation. But the signs for things to do on the weekend are plastered all over the walk bridge, I mean they are EVERYWHERE. I usually have too many things I want to do during the weekends, not too few.

This college is really what you make it and whether you fit into the niche RPI has carved out for itself. If you love science or engineering, don't mind being surrounded by geeks who would be more than willing to chat about science for an hour (BUT are willing to party like crazy on the weekends), than this is the place for you.
