Academically speaking, Siena provides a great experience. Every professor I had was excellent and truly cared about each student as an individual. The academics here are challenging, but the professors make learning interesting. However, the social environment at Siena was very disappointing. I found it to be very cliquey. Most of the students were snobby and, quite simply, very arrogant and rude. The students displayed a clear lack of respect for both themselves and others, and most were very self-centered. The majority of students were from upper class families and did not care about academics one bit. In one of my classes, a professor once collected an assignment at random, and only 2 people completed it. I found that the students were able to get away with far too much laziness (i.e. professors granted assignment extensions, test make-ups, etc.). The party scene definitely dominated the campus. Especially during freshman year, it wasn't rare for a classmate to show up hungover for a morning class (even on a Tuesday!!). Roommate situation was a disaster. Roommates were very unwelcoming and gossipy. Siena is quite small, so everyone knows everyone. Socially, Siena reminded more of high school than a college. Appeared that most students main focus was being popular and well-liked, as opposed to a balanced college experience.
