I'm from nj and I'm a freshman at bing.  I can honestly say that I had a better time in my freshman year of high school than i did this year at binghamton.  I was extremely surprised at how immature all of the people here are.  It's like they have never gotten drunk until college.  It's a shit show, i feel like I'm partying with a bunch of twelve year olds.  I have yet to take my first piss of the day in a toilet that wasn't covered in puke.  On top of all that, everyone here is either Asian or a snobby asshole from Long Island.  Nobody is friendly, it's like they strive to make you feel out of place.  I wouldn't recommend coming to bing if your out of state, especially if your shy.  The people here are so cliquey that it is hard to make solid friends.  The girls here travel in large groups and are just straight mean.  Forget trying to talk to them at a party.  they will either stare at you like you have six heads or just completely ignore the fact that your acknowledging them.  The only nice people here are the Asains cause they mostly stick to themselves and don't bother anyone.  And they will always bum you a cig if u need.  Good thing to keep in mind cause cigs are expensive as hell up here.  Oh yea and the bud is actually real dank up here and a lot of kids burn.  Probably the only plus side of this shithole.

Overall, the social life blows.  The only thing to do on the weekend is pregame at your dorm, go to an overcrowded and scummy frat, and then make your way down to the bars where you can expect to pay four bucks for a decent beer, and not be able to maneuver around all the sweaty assholes there (repeat every weekend).  The cheapest night your lookin at is about twenty bucks and thats if you buy one drink at the bars.  If your tryin to get wasted the bars are not the place to go (unless you steal peoples drinks from the bar when their not looking and yes it actually works because these people are that drunk that they forget they ordered a drink).

Just a note- one night at the bars i was experimenting to see how drunk these people really were.  I had an idea to grab a cup and go up to random people i didn't know who had pitchers of beer and ask them to pour me some.  Not to my surprise at all, they never even hesitated and it worked every time.  I just wish i had thought of this genius idea earlier.  I would have actually saved some money for once.

Anyway I would recommend that you avoid bing at all costs.  The weather is horrible, the food sucks, and so do the people.  The only good thing about this school is the diploma you get at the end.  If your looking for the real college experience and you consider yourself more mature than a twelve year old, then binghamton is not the place for you.
