Please do not make the mistake I madeJan 04 2015Physics
Please do not make the mistake I made coming here for grad school. The physics department is a MESS. The professors DO NOT care about their students. They only care about doing their own research and do not even show up for posted office hours. Emails will go unanswered. Phone calls unreturned. Do not expect to ever find a Professor in his office. In three semesters I could not get an advisor or even engage anyone on the prospects of advising. There is NO orientation, no degree plan, no direction toward you getting your degree. There was also an ugly split this past year with half of these professors going and starting their own department (Space Science). I left this university and will not return. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.
Question
I will receive my MFeb 15 2012Computer Science
I will receive my M.S. in just a few years from what i honestly consider the best Computer Science school in the southeast. I was initially skeptical that such a small school could deliver a quality degree program in this field but UAH blew me away. Go Chargers!!

UAH is the place for a student thatMar 19 2008Mechanical Engineering
UAH is the place for a student that is interested in research, academics. it is based on funding and projects. you have to be completely committed in order to value the treasures of experience, information, and projects that the university and the surrounding research companies provide.overal if you are lookingto enhance your experience, carrer and academics it is the right place.
Question
Pros: cheap to live here, people are nice,Jan 01 2002Physics
Pros: cheap to live here, people are nice, not much traffic, and it's a technical area. Lots of research opportunities, and there are a few good teachers here.

Cons: The school is amazingly poor, and many departments rely upon grants to get anything at all done. Expect to meet the minimum number of required classes if your teacher is grant chasing, and the quality of instruction to be below average. Also expect the facilities in your department to be pretty poor. Neutral: They recruit from their ranks. Students have been known to enter this school as freshmen and remain here through all levels of education, ultimately ending up as staff themselves. The average grad student age is above the mean because of the number of part time people from the surrounding industry.
