If you live on CUI campus, your cellJun 18 2014Education
If you live on CUI campus, your cell phones won't get reception, so if you need to call an ambulance at 2am, you have to run down the street to the guards station. I was shocked at the amount of cocaine use and drinking by students, so in other words, I think this school is for more of the party crowd than I expected. I'm currently pursuing a lawsuit against Concordia for negligence in relation to sending students to China without concern for safety. I highly recommend you don't get involved in the MAIS program, (masters of international studies). The CUI staff are fully aware of the unsafe conditions, yet are only focused on getting student tuition. When I expressed concerns about being harassed or threatened the program staff would just put a positive spin on it and act like nothing was wrong. My medical and attorney receipts are proof enough that this program doesn't care about student safety. I've filed multiple complaints with the school and the attorney general. CUI sends students overseas without fully interviewing people on the safety of the placement school, and they don't interview witnesses who aren't CUI students. Students are not protected, when overseas, by basic American laws. There was an incident in which one of my classmates was almost murdered, and the CUI staff kept it quiet and let the attacker, who was also a classmate, continue to teach children, without informing anyone. Then the guy was back out there partying, as if smashing someone's skull and hospitalizing them wasn't a big deal. Before this school sends you overseas, you have to sign a contract that says you'll pay a fine if you leave your placement before the year is up, so you end up paying more money if you leave an unsafe situation. This school is terrible. Don't enroll in the MAIS program at CUI.
Question
I did both my undergrad and grad schoolFeb 22 2007Religion/Religious
I did both my undergrad and grad school at CUI. I love this place! I came from a relatively large high school where some teachers cared and some only cared about a pay check. At CUI, the profs bend over backwards to help their students learn. I found my profs interesting and even entertaining. They really care about you and your education! The city of Irvine is not the most hopping place but there are so many events on campus that I didn't really notice... plus the beach and great places to hang out are really only 10 minutes away!
