I don't think I did anything truly special toMay 02 2013Physics
I don't think I did anything truly special to get in here. My GPA was 3.8 and I had a 1730 on my SAT. I was part of the science club, and did water polo/swim for three of my four years. I took the AP calc AB exam and got a 5. I took japanese language classes on saturdays as my language credit (my school didn't have japanese so I had to go to another school to take it) I took the History, math, physics, and japanese SAT subject tests and got somewhere from 500-680 in all of them.
I would pretty much recommend just doing things you enjoy in high school to get it. Join a club you like, take a couple AP classes, keep your grades up. that's it. Good luck!

I had top grades (4.0+) but did badly on my SAT. I was careless about my personal statements. When I got accepted, I randomly chose between here & UCSB. Other students from my school that got in had worse grades than me though, they had A's & B's.

Ucsc is anexcellent undergraduate schoolOct 07 2011Psychology
Ucsc is anexcellent undergraduate school. It is underated because it is shadowed by UCB and UCLA. However, the professors rotate from campus to campus, so whichever UC you attend, you will get an education from the same pool of world class educators. In addition, I have taken classes from professors from Harvard. Relative to other UC campuses it is easy to get in A good GPA entrance essay and SAT scores are combined to profile a student who is either a sure bet or has a strong potential. But beware. Although the staff and faculty are very supportive you may be dissapointed. You must be self motivated because it the graduation requirements are more difficult than other UC campuses, ABT, all but thesis is a common prase amoungts former UCSC students. Also, if you are a jock, like tall builings. and hate natural beauties, stay away. By the way Stanford makes drugs and UCR is near Fontana, the Meth cap of ca.
