Dental School

A dental school (school of dentistry, dental college) is a tertiary educational institution—or part of such an institution—that teaches dentistry to prospective dentists. Upon successful completion, the graduate receives a degree in Dentistry, which, depending upon the jurisdiction, might be a bachelor's degree, master's degree, a professional degree, or a doctorate. Schools can also offer postgraduate training in general dentistry, and/or training in endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral pathology, oral and maxillofacial radiology, orthodontics, pedodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, or dental public health.

Degrees in Dentistry

Before getting into dental school you will need to obtain your undergraduate degree and have graduated with at least a 3.0 GPA in the United States and a 3.7 GPA in Canada. You can obtain your undergraduate degree in dentistry, but an undergraduate degree in dentistry is not required to become a dentist. Your undergraduate degree can be in just about any field, but most choose a science like biology or chemistry.
