Date: Sep 06 2003 Major: History/Histories (art history/etc.) (This Major's Salary over time) I found SCSU to be typical of large, public universities in several aspects (liberal admissions, lower graduation rates, "self-service" education). However, I found SCSU to provide an outstanding educational opportunity for those students willing to put in the work and study hard. The major difference I found be between SCSU and another large Midwestern public I attended is that at St. Cloud, classes were actually taught by professors rather than graduate assistants. While faculty are engaged in research, the focus of the university is primarily teaching and most faculty I encountered were excellent instructors. While I can't speak for all of the university, I found that my classes in my major were challenging, rigorous, and meaningful. Based on my high school transcripts and ACT scores, I could have attended my pick of schools. Given the same opportunities, I would choose St. Cloud again.
