This is a good place if one want to go into the military. If one has no military aspirations, then one should not go here. The cadets are mean to one another. It seems as if they will only help and individual if they know them. You are basically not allowed to do anything until you First Class year(Senior Year). It feels like being punished for wanting and education. This place is awful. I hate every minute of it. Like I said earlier, if one has not plans on joining the military, then they should go elsewhere and enjoy life.

Academically, this is not a bad place. VMI has recently decided to up their academic requirements and standards even higher to rival that of Yale, Harvard, or any other Ivy-League school of that nature. This is an extremely difficult college to get in, and even harder to stay in. The courses are extremely difficult, not only to incoming rats(fourth classmen/freshmen), but to the upperclassmen as well. The reason for this drastic increase in academics is due to VMI's desire to become the best Institute in the Nation however, this may hurt a lot more cadets than it helps.
