I'm sure all of you are wondering what makes UCSD so different from all the other UCs. For me it basically came down to UCLA and UCSD. So why UCSD? For one thing, you won't find another campus as ideally located as UC San Diego. San Diego is by far the cleanest and most interesting out of all the UC campuses. UCSD is also divided into 6 colleges, each having its own sense of community, while other UCs have just one huge student body. UCSD is also very diverse unlike other UCs, as many UCs (especially Berkeley and Irvine) are notorious for having strictly Asian/White students.

SCIENCES/ENGINEERING are the major strengths in this school, so if you're planning on majoring in Pre-Medical or Biology-related science, definitely apply here. And for those of you interested in Engineering, apply here since it's only 2nd to Berkeley. ECONOMICS is actually on track here to be a really strong major, much better than UCLA's. Just this year alone, two UCSD professors were nobel laureates for Economics. Other UCs would be lucky just to have one!

My advice for incoming 1st years is to BRING A CAR. Not only is your car a people magnet, but the weekends here are really really dead on-campus. Having a car is sooo convenient to go out with your friends, so that's one thing I wish I did.
