Cal State L.A. IS a commuter campus, so there isn't much of a social life. However, once in a while they do offer interesting events. Not to mention the fact that it's in L.A., so even if there's nothing fun at school, you can get around on the bus system, which is rather good. The professors are helpful, and there are many classes to satisfy the g.e. blocks. Books are expensive (duh!), but even more here because the bookstore is a Barnes & Noble, so there's a markup. Pretty good library, decent parking (although many might object), ok food, and there is no cafeteria for those in the dorms.
