Hillsdale isn’t for everyone. In fact, it isn’t for most people. But if you’re a nice Christian boy or girl with right-wing Republican leanings looking for a decent conservative education than Hillsdale is a good possibility. Hillsdale doesn’t produce genius businessmen or multi-millionaires but it has the potential to if it got with the program of modern universities and dropped the fundamentalist Christian Republican propaganda. Hillsdale can provide a fine education, one of the best liberal arts in the nation, but you better have a plan for after graduation because a Hillsdale degree doesn’t mean squat to most people. Nor should it, because what Hillsdale provides is a conservative liberal arts education along classical lines (and does an excellent job) not a skill set. Students from Hillsdale can tell you all about Homer, Socrates, Thomas Jefferson, Winston Churchill, and free-market economics. Unfortunately, most employers are looking for more than conservative “Hillsdale values are the only values” drones. For those students that already have a game plan on how to get a job post-Hillsdale, you’re going to do well because you already know what to expect outside of college, you’re not counting on college to provide for you, and you’ll be able to get the most from your education and use it in an efficient manner.
