I came to Pitzer from out of state and it was my first choice. After a semester, I've realized that it's not the place I thought it would be. Being a small school, there's less administrative shit to wade through and you do more get individual attention vs. a large school, but my classes were not as small as promised (I only had one class smaller than 25, and that was my freshman seminar) so you do need to make extra effort to get noticed. The school has a very liberal feeling, although most students are sort of passively liberal and don't really know what they're talking about even though they pretend that they do. Don't expect diversity: everyone's somewhat hippie-ish, and most students are white and recieve no financial aid. While there are the other 4 colleges around Pitzer, there's not a whole lot going on. The activities I signed up for were really dead, and there's nothing to do on the weekends besides go to big gross date-rape parties at Harvey Mudd or study. You can't even get coffee on campus on a Friday or Saturday night. HAVING A CAR IS ESSENTIAL. I did not have one and you get really claustrophobic REALY fast. Claremont is a really shitty town. There's not even a movie theater within walking/biking distance. I think that Pitzer can be a good school for some people, but if you're not into a tiny bubble full of mid-upper class, mainly white hippie kids who think they're all unique, then look elsewhere. Oh and to anyone who's interested in Pitzer being a very "queer friendly" school, be prepared for friendliness but not a whole lot of queers.
