As with any institution, Evergreen is a mixed bag. On the one hand, instead of being forced to acquire skills which you have no intention of using, one can focus exclusively on the subject which they intend to pursue in graduate school. Conversely, because a students' knowledge is very narrow (depending of course on their academic direction), job opportunities following graduation tend to be rather limited. The faculty, like society at large, is very diverse, being composed of a broad gamut of individuals. Before choosing a program, one should scrutinize the faculty with whom they will be working with. Evergreen has interdisciplinary programs, which means you only take one program per quarter: if you choose a program with a worthless professor, you're in it for the long haul. Basically, at a place like Evergreen you get what you put in.
