I will be graduating this April and can say that I had a great experience at Pepperdine. Initially it was a little difficult to find "my place" as it felt a little clicky/exclusive freshman year and it is difficult to get out without a car; however, Pepperdine offers such AMAZING opportunities for students through their well-managed Overseas and Washington DC programs that it became easy to make friends from all backgrounds. Classes (particularly GEs) were always challenging-and sometimes excessively-whether on campus or abroad. The professors are extremely accessible and always glad to help. Class-structure ranges from small intimate discussions (often in major classes—what matter to me) to lectures (generally GEs). It is not uncommon for professors to invite a class to dinner or breakfast at their place on campus. I do not feel the "religious" aspect to be overbearing at all and have found both the professors and students to be a nice mix of backgrounds in beliefs (although the majority are definitely Christian). It is really nice to be at a place where values are not snubbed, and also open to understanding that people are "human".

I often attend concerts and clubs in LA and enjoy that basically ANYTHING you want to do is right at your doorstep. Granted a 30 minute drive may feel like nothing when deciding what to do. . . but that's the price you pay for being out of the LA smog and out on practically-oceanfront property. There's a reason the rich-and-famous flock here.

Overall Pepperdine is an amazing school. To get the most for your money you should definitely take advantage of all that they have to offer (particularly overseas) and take a full load of classes.. even if they are challenging, the education is what you're paying for and the beauty is a bonus.
