More than anything else, students should know in advance that no institution is as good as its press/brochure. Recognize that selecting a college is just part of the process. Once you arrive, you will only get as much out it as you invest - time, studying, experiences, etc. You can achieve and grow at any school. You just need to make sure that the school you choose offers the basic environment and support that you feel important. If you prefer a lot of direct advising and hand-holding, ANY institution of more than 10,000 students is simply not the place for regardless whether it is private, public, 4-year, or 2-year.
