After attending Stephens College for the 2005-2006 school year, I HAD to TRANSFER. This "college" is awful. I mean, I can't even find a word strong enough in the English language to describe how terrible this "school" is. First of all, this website states that Stephens students have an average ACT score of 27. This is unbelievably INACCURATE. The average scores are half of that. I would know, I worked in admissions there. Most of the students had ACT scores of 19 and 20. However, many of the students accepted to Stephens had a composite score of 14, 15, and 16's. You may think this is not a big deal, but the stupidity of the students really effects the classroom enviornment. Some of the kids in my composition class didn't know what MLA was or how to write decent papers. Also, Stephens has no real departments and the professors, if you can even call them that, show no interest in what they teach. My high school teachers were MUCH better and more inspiring than any professor I had at Stephens. The social scene at stephens doesn't exist. Most kids go home on the weekends so if you live far away, you're screwed. The school may seem like the Fashion, Theatre, and Dance departments are good, but trust me they aren't. My local community college offered more courses in a variety of subjects than Stephens. So, if you're interested in learning about different cultures and world issues, you know, things that MATTER, then Stephens REALLY isn't for you. The best advice I can give you is don't go to a college just because they offer only one thing you THINK you like because your likes and dislikes will change. Don't go to a school soley based on the major they offer because you will miss out on the true college experience.
