This college projects an image of social responsibility, community oriented values, and sincere dedication to world improvment, however, the student body and administration fail to represent such lofty ideals. The college community is fragmented, there is little or no personal or academic support, and the overall living experience is simply horrendous. Students seem preoccupied with partying, smoking weed, and generally getting involved with condescendingly left-wing social endeavors.

The dorm situations are also horrendous… underclassmen typically recieve horrible room draw numbers, and are not guaranteed on campus housing. The dorm rooms are old, decrepit, unsanitary, and cramped, and a majority of the building contain asbestos cieling tiles. The housing directors are chronically absent, uncaring, and generally useless.. as are a majority of the RAs, who simple ignore the rampant use of illegal substance and underaged drinking.

The administration is unvailable, and unaccomadating, and the deans are inexperienced and unreliable. Student problems are marginalized and ignored, a seemingly impossible attitude for such a supposedly community-oriented school.

The professors, however, are incredibly qualified and intellectually stimulating, and compose the most positive aspect of the college atmosphere. However, the overall intelligence of the student body stands in stark contrast to such a distinguished faculty, as many students lack poise, intelligence, and eloquence, leading to unstimulating classroom conversations (except when students from the other 5Cs participate).

The 5C consortium is definitely a positive aspect of the campus atmosphere, as it allows students to particiate in the rigorous academics of colleges such as Pomona, Claremont McKenna, and Scripps. However, Pitzer serves as the sterotypical

weed-smoking hippie school
, which possess a reputation as the easiest of the five Claremont Colleges. The academic aspects that Pitzer promotes, including the study abroad program and Fullbright scholarships, are largelyt overexaggerated (nearly all colleges possess study abroad programs), and Fullbright Scholarships are generally awarded based on political connections of their renowned faculty…

On another note, the segregation of racial minorities into collegiate organization such as the "Black Student Union" ect. seems decidedly condescending and unsincere… There is a complete lack of socioeconomic diversity at all of the colleges, and student of color generally represent the affluent side of such minorities. There is no support for caucasian students or student of mixed ethnicity, and the recruitment process targets minorities merely to compose a impressive racial quota, with little or no real support for these students' needs.

My advice for the prospective student is to look carefully behind the propaganda, and you will find that the entire composition of this college is scattered, disorganized, and a little "out there". This may appeal to the more unfocused student, however, if you care about the quality of your college experience please look elsewhere for a school that truly cares about its constituents.
