The Pomona math department is amazing—the professors are kind and approachable, and great teachers to boot. The work is challenging, but with an emphasis on problem solving, rather than drilling or memorization. Homework can be brutal in upper division classes.

Other departments have few if any of these attributes (e.g. psychology, sociology), so try not to take my comments as representative of the school as a whole.

commentI'd just like to say that for me personally the psychology department has been great. I can see why if you're a non-major you would feel that way from the intro courses because they are not very good but that is the nature of that type of intro courses. Maybe you were referring specifically to the type of work there is and in that case then never mind :)
