I would recommend people to stay away from Walden. They are truly diploma mill and proud of it. They have no criteria for admission, any one who applies, will get in. That is not good because it brings down the value of the degree. Don't waste your time and money.

responseSo, from your response you appear to believe that education should be for the few? In the 70's there was not this competitive collage situation we have now. You wanted to go to UCLA you just signed up for classes. Education should be for anyone that would like. To think otherwise is a very arrogant idea. Being allowed to take classes does not mean you will pass. The work still needs to be done. It is interesting how incredibly strongly you feel about Walden and you do not appear to have any personal experience from what I can gather in your post. I gather that a good amount of the students in online schools are working adults with families. They do not have "extra" time, and yet they want to make their life more enriched. As an adult student myself, I bring much more to the table than I would have at 24. If I was an average student then it does not reflect on what I have learned and what kind of student I am today. The post seems shallow if you are going to base a schools value on it's entrance exam.
responseI find it interesting that you yourself are in your second year, but say they admit anyone. Doesn't say much about you then. And, I have experiecne with Walden and have seeen MANY people denied. Without sufficient entry requirements, they are unable to maintain accreditation. Nice try though. :-)
Again, to get into Walden you need

1) A fuilly accredited prior degree of the apropriate level, which they will send for a NACES regulated independant evaluation

2) A TOEFL score or 550 for the paoper based test or an IELTS score of 6.5 or above.

3) To be over 24 & have relevant work experience

4) To present a quality CV/resume

5)To write a Goal Statement, an essay about who you are, what you do, what you believe, how you want your career to prograss etc.

6) If degree's are tailored to peoples needs/ are flexible, is this not a good thing?

7) Yes you need to be able to pay for your course fee's. Is this unusual?
