Awesome experience. Can't imagine being in a traditional college program. Being able to choose your own major/program makes so much sense. Even though Evergreen is a public university, it has the feel of a private school without the price or pretentiousness.

I made an easy transition from the east coast and am so glad I did. While I sit in small classes with professors who know me by name and want to know about me personally and what makes me tick, my friends from back home are in large lecture halls with 100-200+ people with professors who don't know who they are, let alone care about them as individuals. I am taking programs that I am interested in taking to get my degree, not some required classes that would be useless to my future. I like the idea of trimesters. It gives me a chance to get home and see my friends and family and then I can't wait to get back here. When I visit friends at their colleges, it seems like an extension of high school. I never get that feeling here. It was easy to meet people. Everyone is really cool without being pompous. There is no cut throat competition. Everyone works together to help each other out. People on the west coast seems to be more down to earth. Professors make it comfortable to speak up in class without any hassles if you express an opinion that isn't the norm. The school isn't for everyone but it is definitely for someone who wants a different experience than high school. Music scene is expanding in Olympia. Seattle and Portland are close by. Waking up to Mt. Ranier? Can't beat it.
