Green Mountain, like any college, is loved and hated, depending on who you talk to. I think one of the most important things you can do is actually come visit the school and talk to students and tour guides, as well as faculty. Many people will read reviews and base their decision off of that, however, these reviews won't tell you much about Green Mountain. Those who love it will tell you everything that is great about it. Yes, it is a very small school, so you are known. You can approach your teachers at almost any time and get the help you need. The campus is also very accepting. As at all colleges, there are the select few who are not accepting, and the campus comes together to let these people know that it is inappropriate to disrespect others. Also people see the openness of the community. thought there is crime, it is not as if there are things stolen all day every day, and generally if something is stolen- it is found and returned and the student responsible is expelled.

Those who don't like the school on these reviews will tell you only about their bad experiences, even if they had a few good ones. The school is only good if your a pot-smoking- shroom eating alcoholic. This is can assure you is not true. Though there are drugs on campus (and quite a bit of weed) that's not what everyone does all the time. Personally, I do none of these things- and I love the school. I have friends who enjoy party's on weekends, and I can appreciate that, and some party's aren't just for those who like to drink- they are fun for anyone who wants to go. Some negative comments also say things about the lack of motivation in the students, how nobody cares about work, the work not being challenging enough, or the uneducated faculty. Though there are some faculty that aren't the best, if students come together and let the college know, that person is replaced, I know because I've seen this happen. It is also college, so motivation is something that varies individual to individual. you will always have those people who don't go to every class. Sometimes it is a bit more noticeable at a smaller school, because instead of having the 15 people in class you only have 12. Also the work is not always challenging, but it is what you make of it. if it's not hard enough, you can talk to a professor and they will make the course more challenging for you. It is also up to you to learn- the teachers can't teach you everything.

The most important thing to know about Green Mountain, is you can't possible understand the atmosphere or know whether you appreciate it based on these reviews. Go to the school. If you have concerns from things you've read- ask about them. Ask the tour guide about crime rates on campus. Ask to see a real room, and not a show room- then you'll really be able to get a feel as to some of the comments on these pages being true or not. Look on the website, because though they do put things on there that make the school look good- the things are really going on, really happen, and the students really are involved. It's all about how much you're willing to put yourself out and how much you want to get involved. It's also about being able to accept people, and realize that there are different views.

On campus, as was mentioned- there is a streaking team. It is one inter3esting aspect of the school, because it's rare that people are so open. Once at open house the team ran through. Then and there 2 students and their parents decided this was unacceptable and they would not stand to send there children there. Though the school was disappointed in the team, it was talked out. Those students got something that even admissions didn't know was going to happen. It was real students showing one real side of Green Mountain. You may go, and realize that you don't like to students there. you don't like that yes, some people do walk around barefoot. some people do smoke weed. you might not like the fact that there are staunch republicans that go to the school. But you must go see the college if you're interested, otherwise you are pulled one way or the other based on experiences from someone who may or may not be like you at all.
