I am transferring from CMU at the end of this, my second semester at the school. I have concluded that because of the strong "southern" sort of social exclusiveness (ie a strong Greek population), the school is very cliquey and pulled apart by different fraternities, sororities, and extracurricular activities that have come to act as fraternities and sororities. The university is very much like a high school, which I did not enjoy and looked forward to getting away from when I graduated. Therefore, if you enjoyed high school and are not bothered by cliques, CMU is a good school. Otherwise, it is not.
