I'm a freshman at UW, and currently studying to get enrolled in the UW Foster Business school. I am an in-state student, and I have grown with the rain and learned to appreciate it. I do love the city of Seattle, so expect some bias in this review.

In terms to whats good about UW, I would have to say that it is a very prestigious school with great connections with big-shot companies such as microsoft, boeing, amazon, and starbucks. Just like any university, UW has strong areas of studies, and weak ones as well. If your seeking an occupation in business, engineering (any), computer science, medical, environmental, or construction management—then UW is a good pick for you. However UW does not offer a great language translation program, nor does it offer the best law program.

Other straight up good things about UW. You have a beautiful campus with an European style architecture. You also have a great basketball team, football team, tennis team, and the list of sports go on and on. You are part of a university that produces great alumni that have accomplished big things in our nation. And Seattle is a great city, hands down.

But EVERY single university has flaws. That includes UW. First, the rain. Second, budget cuts have made UW "privatized". Tuition is being inflated. Third, the competition to get enrolled in your preferred major is no joke. You need to work hard and balance your time well. You do not want to spend 2 years studying for your major and end up getting rejected by that school's admissions office. Also, construction activity is high at UW right now. So look forward to seeing fences, trucks, helmet workers, etc. The biggest flaw I see in UW, is wasting your time here if you can't keep up with the academic body and end up studying an alternative that you are not satisfied with. You're paying too much to settle with your "second-option".

So work hard, explore, discover youself, and enjoy UW. Its a great school. Go huskies!

questionRead your UW review? that true you do not spend 2 years on your core major and still pay over 40k?? And stil not get accepted? Is the school worth it for an undegrad and Out of state student?
