Lynchburg College's pros far outweigh its cons. Like any college, it is more about what you put in than prestige, major, etc. A poor student at a good university often remains poor and unsuccessful. Likewise, a motivated student at a small, unnamed college can still achieve tremendous success.

I'm halfway through my education at LC and I've already landed two internships, both government jobs. This upcoming fall I get to do independent research and present my findings at a state-wide undergraduate conference. None of these opportunities would have been possible without excellent guidance from my advisors.

Many of the students who do not like the school don't get INVOLVED… and one frustrating aspect of the college is the number of students who are there ONLY for drinking and parties. The silver lining is, however, that I get more time to communicate with professors and staff.

Now I do agree with the level of social life off campus. The city of Lynchburg if DEAD. The city is not walkable, the public transportation sucks, and the only place that doesn't close at sundown is Walmart. The only positive thing about the city of Lynchburg is that it is driving distance to DC, Charlotte, and Richmond for weekend fun.

Everyone on campus is pretty friendly, especially the MACs office. Some students are cliquish though. You can definitely distinguish between the athletes, student government bunch, and Virginia natives/non-natives.

Before I get too long-winded, I'll just say that the opportunities at LC are endless. It's a matter of being VOCAL about your needs and articulating your wants to your advisors and professors. They love motivated students. If you are going to college only for a party then no use going to college at all, just show up to campuses on the weekend.
