Academically Cal Lutheran is fine. From my experiences, the majority of my professors have been great. Being a smaller school, its never too difficult to get in touch with most of them. As far as administration (business office, financial aid office, etc) I feel like there is a certain level of incompetency. Ask three different offices the same question and you'll get three different answers. Many times the different offices fail to communicate with each other effectively, all at the detriment of you the student. When it comes to registering for classes more often than not one will find some form of hold placed on your account. Many times financial or advisory which are very inconvenient when your trying to register for classes.

Socially…Cal Lutheran is terrible. A Friday night at this university is quieter than a Tuesday night. Thousand Oaks is in no way, shape or form a college town. There are zero parties on campus and off campus parties tend to be broken up by the police at or before 12:00 am. Free concerts? Not here…and if there is then you and the majority of the student body has never heard of/have not interest in the musician. The silence at times is truly deafening and depressing. The evening time really lacks the hustle, bustle, and general buzz that I've noticed at other universities. Quiet hours in the dorm start at 9:00pm during the week and begin at 11:00pm during the weekend. 11:00pm! That means after that time you have an RA knocking at your door asking you to keep it down…on the weekend.

All and all I really feel like I missed out by attending this university. Don't get me wrong, I've met some great people here and I try to be as social as possible. Ironically almost everyone I know or have even talked to casually, regardless of background will agree…Cal Lutheran is terrible when it comes to social experiences. Academically Cal Lutheran is fine but if your looking for a FULL college experience than look elsewhere. This isn't the place for you.
