The U is great if you can figure out where to find the right opportunities. For example, I think about 80% of students who apply for an Undergraduate Research Grant get approved, which means you get a semester of research experience, a faculty mentor and a 10/hr a week student job. Pretty nice. Professors are great if you reach out first and ask for something.

The biggest complaint I have with U is that it's too full. I have had to wait an hour in line at the Rec center to use a treadmill (and then got frustrated and got in a fight with another student who claimed she'd been waiting longer). Don't buy food at the student union because its severely overpriced and once you buy it you'll be pretty upset that there's NOWHERE to sit down and eat it… you'll see students sitting on the floor out of desperation. Same goes for the library.

Finally, everything can be very far apart before you find your major so have fun walking in -15 wind chill.
