I wasn't quite sure where to go to college at first I applied to a lot of schools out of state but they were too expensive so I went to UCSB, the highest ranking UC that I was admitted to. I have to say I'm really disappointed. The classes are huge and students are treated like no more than their perm number (their ID number) In my experience the administration has been unhelpful and rude, including one time that I needed the advising department to complete an official form me and was told "you can write just like I can". In addition classes are huge and it doesnt seem to matter whether or not you show up, professors just lecture on the textbook material anyway. All of my math professors have had difficulty speaking English which only adds to the feeling of not needing to go to class. Office hours have been mixed: some professors are willing to help, others don't give you the right time of day and will refer you to "read the textbook". The social life here is horrendous, it consists of mostly partying and drinking. I've been hard pressed to find friends of an academic nature. I've been very dissatisfied and ultimately will not be attending next year.
questionWhere did you transfer to? i am finding it to be the same you described.
