The campus here is beautiful and I love the cultural diversity in the Seattle area. There is a niche group for almost everyone, and if you can't find someplace you fit it's easy enough to start your own group. If you're looking for fun and friendship, UW is a great place.

However, if you actually care about your academic success, do not come to this school unless you are willing to be treated like a number. A handful of the faculty are amazing and actually care about undergraduate students, but unfortunately they are vastly outnumbered by research faculty professors who don't speak English and are only teaching classes because they are required to. Undergraduates are only treated well enough to keep them paying to support graduate research programs.

Due to "budget cuts" the school doesn't offer enough spaces in required classes for everyone who needs them, which works to the benefit of the school because students are then required to pay for an extra year or two to finish degrees. None of the advising or departmental staff are willing to solve this problem. It is absolutely unacceptable to pay over $27,000 a year to receive an education from a prestigious university only to be told to take classes at a community college to fulfill graduation requirements because there isn't enough space in UW's classes. I am so unhappy with this school that, were I given another chance to pick an undergraduate school, UW would be my last choice.

responseUW is a prestigious university? hahahah!
