Major: Architecture (This Major's Salary over time)
Please consider any other schools you are interested in BEFORE planning your future here. While this "architectural" school may—keyword "may"—help you, it won't help you in design development on your own ideas as you will feel at times restricted to designing what your instructors want than making your own design. That's how I felt every time I tried at design. If I made it based on my instructor, I got a B. My own idea, a C. They think their ideas are better than yours but they are not and in the end, you won't feel satisfied in your creation.

I found that these instructors and advisors are walking contradictions and listening to them has its own consequences. For contradictions, they'll state that certain elements constantly used in modern architecture are useless and not recommended yet are still used in real life, and if you fully take on your instructors or advisor's suggestions, you will regret it if indeed things go wrong, which in fact they will. Keep in mind that you are only allowed to take a class twice here in the architectural program. Fail a second attempt at passing and you are dropped from the program, no questions asked.

Socially, working with other students depending on class graduation may differ, as I was stuck with a bunch of anti-social, alienated kids of the class of 2016. That class only appeared to socialize themselves with the people they met at the beginning of their start here, and were not welcoming to newcomers who joined their class. The only advantage to socialize with anyone on this campus is if you are gay, in a fraternity/sonority, or an athletic. Neither of the three and you are an outcast. You may make some friends, but they'll only last a semester. Foreigners away from North America are the worst at socializing, and only bond with the three mentioned earlier or particular others their class graduation group. From my experience, I found that few foreigners do not like to communicate with minorities who attend here and instantly don't like them or talk to them.

As for the city of Springfield, you are moving into the Bible-belt section of Missouri, so expect to see everything "christianized" when you get here. Also, some people here are not kind to gays, minorities, foreigners, and people who don't follow "their" beliefs. The only real entertainment if any is Branson is south of Springfield and the Lake of the Ozarks to the east. If you want real northern architecture, there's Kansas City and Saint Louis. I should mention that architectural field trips commonly send students to the south rather than the north.

With all this in mind, just reconsider the other schools you are thinking about attending before you set your sights here. And if you are coming from a community college, expect to know more on architecture, because my community college did a better job of teaching me architecture than this school did.
