I came to Lynchburg College because I was recruited as a D3 athlete. On myh visits, it seemed like a nice school with decent facilities and an all around fun atmosphere. Unfortunately I was wrong. Although Lynchburg College is a small liberal arts school and therefore potential students should look past a few of their shortcomings, it is far from worth your money to go here. The academics are very easy unless you choose a tougher major like nursing or AT, and most classes are not really challenging as long as you put forth minimal effort. Faculty are helpful, but their are so few that if you do not like a professor in your major then you are probably SOL because they are not going anywhere and there are most likely no other options. The facilities are subpar at best, with the only new and modern looking building being Schewel Hall. The rest of the buildings (student residences especiallyg) are run down and have countless unfinished repairs. The cafeteria food is terrible, and Westover is the only other option even accessible with a meal swipe on your meal plan and it is not much better. Finally, the social/night life is just not there. Although some students try to have fun on the weekends, the majority of the time your weekend nights will involve atleast one talk with campus security during which they will try to bully you into admitting something they can punish you for whether you did it or not. Additionally, Dean Eccles spends more time writing lengthy and incredibly not funny emails instead of finding more ways to improve the college and make it a more relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for the students. Luckily, I will be gone from Lynchburg next semester, and although I have met some friends here that I will keep in touch with, I could not be happier with the switch and would advise any potential students to seriously look into what they want out of their college or university before making the decision to attend Lynchburg College.
